Team 1719

The Umbrella Corporation is a FIRST Robotics team composed of 13 student members from The Park School and Towson High School. This is our fourth year participating in FIRST, and we are escited about the challenges of working with a brand new control system this season. For more information on current team members, mentors, sponsors, or if you are interested in joining or sponsoring Team 1719, or would just like more information about us, feel free to take a few minutes and browse our site, or e-mail us at: info@team1719.org

Winter Greens Sale

Celebrate a Druid Tradition. As the days grow shorter and we await the rebirth of spring, the robotics team is pleased to invite you to celebrate an ancient tradition by displaying evergreens in your homes over the Winter Solstice season. We can offer you a door charm (that doubles as a table centerpiece or mantle garland), or one of two different wreaths. Here's how it works: Can't make it to the Craft Fair? Contact Lynn Roberts (parent of Will Schneider, class of 2010 410-560-3659) for alternate delivery arrangements.

2nd Annual Battle O' Baltimore Hosted at Park

Working with our colleagues in the Baltimore Area Alliance, we were thrilled to host the 2nd Battle O' Baltimore off-season event August 9th. Twenty-five teams from the mid-Atlantic region came to Park to compete in the tournament. The event included a book drive for Reach Out and Read Baltimore that brought in almost 700 pounds of books, including 293 poinds from Team 1719 to earn a certificate of accomplishment. We also posted our best competitive outing ever, finishing 6th in the qualifying rounds and then leading an alliance with Team 888 and Team 1418 all the way to the finals. Thanks to our BAA partners for helping to make this a really special event!

2008 Chesapeake Regional

For the third straight year the Umbrella Corporation successfully participated at the Chesapeake Regional Tournament. Our robot, the "Bronze Bruin", was among the fastest in the field, and although our 5-3 qualifying record earned us a ranking of 19th, we didn't make it into the finals. Still, it was a tremendously fun event, especially for the new members of the team and their families. Here are some pictures from the tournament.

Umbrella Corp. Succeeds at Off-Season Events

Team 1719 successfully competed in three off-season events in 2007, including the first annual Battle O' Baltimore in August, the Duel on the Delaware in October, and Ramp Riot in November. The BoB gave us a chance to work with our BAA partners to organize a successful off-season event. At the Duel on the Delaware, we scored our first competition trophy, joining with Team 25, Raider Robotix, and Team 365, MOE, to make it all the way to the finals. At Ramp Riot, we picked up a trophy as the back-up team for the winning alliance captained by Team 709, Femme Fatale.
